Montasir Ahmed

Scientific Advisor

Montasir is a health economist with more than eight years of experience in economic evaluation, decision-analytic modelling and health technology assessment. He develops cost-effectiveness and budget-impact models to support clinical, policy and investment decisions, drawing on real-world evidence, causal inference, econometric methods and survival analysis to strengthen model structures and inputs.

He has led and contributed to economic evaluations across NIHR-funded clinical trials, NHS service evaluations and HTA projects. This includes leading the health economic evaluation of the Bedside Electronic Transfusion Checks programme across Barts Health NHS Trust. He collaborates with clinicians, researchers and health economists from Barts Health NHS Trust, NHS Blood and Transplant, the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the University of Manchester and Queen Mary University of London to generate evidence that informs clinical practice, implementation and NHS decision-making.

His methodological expertise includes probabilistic sensitivity analysis, systematic reviews, meta-analysis and evidence synthesis. His work spans clinical trials, observational research, implementation studies and digital health evaluations. Montasir is a Health Economist at Queen Mary University of London and an Honorary Health Economist at Barts Health NHS Trust. Before joining Queen Mary, he worked at the University of Oslo, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, Oslo Metropolitan University and NordicRWE.

Qualifications

He holds an MPhil in Health Economics, Policy and Management, an MPhil in Economics and an MSc in Economics.
