Sayma is a public health researcher with experience in epidemiology, evidence synthesis and mixed-methods research, with a particular focus on mental health and global health. She has contributed to population-based studies on the prevalence and determinants of depressive symptoms among adolescents, medical students and physicians in Bangladesh, and to secondary analysis of national demographic and health survey data.
Her experience covers systematic and scoping reviews, survey design, quantitative analysis (Stata, SPSS, R), qualitative research and programme evaluation. She has worked on research and consultancy projects for the World Health Organization, the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs, icddr,b and BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, including studies in humanitarian and low-resource settings.
